With the 2015 winding down I finally have a chance to take catch up on blogging and sharing some of the awesome families I had the pleasure of capturing this year. I’ve known Nicole and Joe for years, they are high school sweethearts and have 2 beautiful children. I was excited to document their beautiful family. We caught up last Spring during their Family Lifestyle Session in their home. Since our session sweet Sienna has turned 2 and received great news at her follow up appointment for her PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus).
I asked Nicole if I could touch on their PDA story on the blog. Here is a bit of their experience with Sienna and her PDA. PDA (Patent Ductus Arteriosus) is a congenital heart defect. The condition means that Sienna had too much blood flowing into her lungs which was putting a strain on her heart (her poor little heart was enlarged due to the condition.) The condition increases blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries. Sienna had a cardiac catherization procedure to close her PDA where a device was placed in the PDA to block blood flow through the vessel at Sick Kids in Toronto. She did extremely well and had her next follow up appt this past Summer. The check up went awesome and her heart is already back to its normal size within 6 months. The tissue will still need to form over the device so we will have another check up but Nicole has confirmed that everything looks fantastic and there should be no concerns going forward! Awesome news Sienna!!
