Guelph Twins Newborn Photographer | Fresh 48 Hospital Session

Twins Newborn Photographer

Fresh 48 Sessions are truly unforgettable sessions. They really capture those first moments of baby with their family. The amount that little ones change within even the first week is incredible. It’s hard to realize until you look back at those portraits from the day or two after they are born. The portraits captured are such a special memory from this time.

The Fresh 48 sessions are captured at specific hospitals in SW ON, based on distance from the Yellow Brick Road Photography Studio. Hospital locations include Guelph, Cambridge, Kitchener, Fergus, Milton and Hamilton (please inquire for further information).

For this beautiful Twins newborn session I arrived at Guelph General Hospital to meet Mom, Megan and Dad, Brandon who had just welcomed their beautiful twins Tahlia and Jacen!

This was the first time I was meeting Megan and Brandon and what a special moment it was! Being invited into such a private, intimate time in their lives is so special. I am honoured at how they welcomed me to capture these moments. Moments like these are never lost on me!

When I am capturing twins, I capture portraits of them together as well as individually. The way in which the session progresses depends on how well the babies are sleeping, how alert or awake they are and if the are feeling happy or unsettled.

In this session, Tahlia and Jacen were perfect little sweethearts and snoozed the entire time. As I had recommended, they had a feed right before I arrived.

Before we begin, I always like to meet the family and talk through what we are going to capture. I really focus on making sure the session flows at Mom & babies pace.

As I began the session, Jacen was still having a little bit of a feed, so we began with portraits of Tahlia. I did not want to see Mom moving around too much, so we utilized the bed set up. We also captured portraits near the window space.

As in all newborn sessions, I love to capture baby’s little profile, button nose, tiny lips and their cute peach fuzz hair. We capture these details while they are in the hospital bed in Mom and Dad’s arms and in the bassinet. It’s important to keep these moment organic and true to the moment. These are the portraits they will look back on to remember these special moments!

After finishing up the individual portraits, Mom brought out the lovely name signs she had made. We used these to capture portraits of Tahlia and Jacen together and they absolutely loved it and were snuggled up with each other.

I always love to capture baby swaddled in their hospital blanket. This is unique to the Fresh 48 sessions and documents those fresh moments in baby’s life.

Next, they were captured unswaddled to show their little bellies, fingers and toes. At one moment, they interlocked their toes which was one of the most beautiful, and sweet moments I’ve seen in a long time. I was overjoyed that I was able to capture that precious moment!

We finished this session with the twins swaddled in pink and blue blankets Mom and Dad brought. I captured Mom as she held her sweet babies with her arms and heart full of love!
